CANADIAN PAIN SOCIETY | ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC MEETING
Poster Pitch Competition | Open
Deadline to submit: April 20, 2021
April 28-30, 2021 | Virtual Meeting
The Canadian Pain Society (CPS) typically invites 6 – 8 poster presenters to “pitch” their posters during the opening of the scientific meeting. These are 60 second opportunities for poster presenters to "pitch" their poster to the CPS audience (in any creative form - songs, dance routines, skits, poems, narrated art) during the morning opening of the conference. Since the 2021 meeting is virtual, we are asking for interested poster presenters to submit a 60 s video clip “pitching” their poster. These poster pitches should be amendable to a lively ‘blitz’ presentation to a diverse audience and have broad appeal with potential entertainment value. The top 6 - 8 “pitches” will be featured during the virtual conference. However, all poster presenters are also free to informally share their pitches through social media platforms at any time as a way to generate excitement for the Annual Scientific Meeting and their specific poster.
Poster pitch guidelines
These guidelines are for people who are presenting a poster at the CPS 2021 virtual conference and wish to submit an additional speed pitch. If you have any questions, please contact us.
You have a maximum of 60 s to pitch your poster. Your aim is to convince the other delegates to view your poster, ask you questions and comment on your work. Imagine you are a listener in the audience: the short and lively pitches are often the best. Be sure to include your name and poster title at the end of your pitch.
You can submit your poster pitch as a short video recorded as an mp4 file with a maximum resolution of 720p. We suggest using an app such as TikTok as it is easy to add text and effects, which will enhance your overall video.
Your poster pitch must be submitted on or before April 20, 2021. If it is small enough, please email your poster pitch to firstname.lastname@example.org. If not, please use a file transfer service such as Dropbox or WeTransfer. Please send us your poster pitch as soon as possible to allow us time to prepare the conference materials.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights to the content of your poster pitch and associated materials, and that you have not infringed the rights of others. You agree that you have the consent of any co-authors.
The CPS Communications Committee will rank all poster pitch submissions and the top ranked 6 – 8 poster pitches will be shown during the opening of the conference. Meeting attendees will have an opportunity to vote for their favourite poster pitch. A Starbucks Gift card and ever-lasting fame await the poster pitcher with the most votes. All poster pitches will be reviewed before posting on the virtual conference platform. Provided that your submission is acceptable but was not one of the top ranked submissions it will be made available on the Canadian Pain Society Vimeo channel (as well as anywhere else that you choose to share it).
